Description
This teapot was made in the shape of the Chinese classic “stone ladle” (shipiao) teapot. I made it taller than what is most common, and modified a few details so it is less angular and hopefully therefore easier to handle than most.
The pot was made on the potter’s wheel, but it is quite intense in the way it requires handwork. The handle and lid-handle as well as the feet are handmolded, and added after turning. There is a high level of precision involved in the placement of these added elements. I love making them, but they come at a higher price than the teapots you can assemble in less time, obviously.
Glazed inside out in tenmoku, here in the form of a glossy, rusty look.
The pour is great on this lil pot.
