Dear All,
Sitting here in Belgium sipping my favourite Wuyi rock tea (tie luohan) from a wonky shino cup, I want to send thanks to you guys who subscribe to my studio’s newsletter. There are newcomers (welcome!), but many of you are actually “old friends” – people from all over the world whom I feel I “know” although we could pass eachother on the street and not know eachother by looks. The tea community is a wonderfully warm, comforting entity – interactions and conversations leave impressions that linger long afterwards. Like the “rock rhyme” (yanyun) of a good yancha….
The last firing happened immediately after my return from a short trip to Beijing. Keen to get back to work, I approached the glazing without the usual rumination and just got on with it. Opening th ekiln, I was greeted by some delightfully mischievous, gnarly-looking, double-dipped shino pieces…. Shino does it own thing, and that’s mostly alright by me.
As always, greatful for your comments. Please take a look here
